This beloved institution first saw the light of day as the School for Playback Theatre in 1993.
Jonathan Fox, the founder and the first Director, established the school as a response to a demand for international training in Playback Theatre. A progressively advanced training was created for playback theatre practitioners.
In 1995, Jo Salas agreed to be Co-director. Playback Theatre classes took place at nearby Vassar College. Students from all over the world came to learn the art and craft of Playback Theatre.
The School re-organised as a non-profit in 2000, mainly in order to receive contributions to sustain a vigorous scholarship program. Today, we remain committed to offer scholarships for every Centre program, to help deserving students in need.
